Release Notes

Everything new, improved, and fixed in FreeTradeJournal.

v2.90.0Latest
NewImprovedFixed

Chart controls in the Theme Studio, and a rebuilt Settings page.

New features

  • Charts in the Theme Studio

The Theme Studio has a Charts section. Pick smooth, straight or stepped lines for the equity curve and P&L charts, turn the fill under the line and the grid lines on or off, and set your own six series colours for charts that compare symbols. The preview cards redraw as you change them.

The Charts section of the Theme Studio with line style buttons, fill and grid switches, and six series colour pickers

Improvements

  • Settings page, rebuilt

Every section now uses the same layout: a short title, then a card of rows with the setting on the left and its control on the right. The page banner and profile card at the top are gone, the section tabs stay pinned under the header as you scroll, and the theme picker is unchanged. Risk keeps its inputs and calculator side by side; the calculator is now a plain list of figures. Data & privacy splits into Backup, Privacy and Danger zone. Subscription is a list of plan, billing and sync rows.

Fixes

  • Empty Notifications card

v2.89.0
NewImproved

Import from the Add Trade dialog, a clearer calendar day view, and news events on the calendar.

New features

  • News events on the calendar

Days with a scheduled US release are marked in the calendar. Hover a day and the tooltip lists them, for example NFP, CPI, FOMC, GDP or PCE. Open the day and the same events sit next to your trade count and win rate. It covers the 2026 schedule from the Fed, BLS and BEA.

Improvements

  • Import from Add Trade in the Trade Log

Add Trade in the Trade Log now works like the one on the dashboard. It opens with two tabs, Manual and Import. Import takes a CSV or Excel export by drag and drop or file picker, or a screenshot of your closed trades. The separate Import button is gone. Dropping a file anywhere on the Trade Log page still works.

  • Longer trade table

  • Calendar day view, cleaned up

v2.88.0
NewImproved

Chart screenshots on daily calendar notes, and redrawn Time of Day and Trading Sessions charts.

New features

  • Add charts to a daily note

Click a day on the calendar, choose Add note, and drop your chart screenshots straight into it: the daily bias, DXY, the levels you are watching. They no longer need a trade to hang off. The note and its charts show up in the Journal too.

The calendar day note form with a chart screenshot attached below the notes

Improvements

  • Time of Day and Trading Sessions, redrawn

Time of Day now only draws the hours you actually trade, so the bars use the whole chart, and every bar carries its figure. Trading Sessions is a new chart with four rows, Asia, London, New York and Off hours, each labelled with its hours in your own time zone, and a switch between P&L, win rate and trade count. The old overlap rows are gone: a trade taken while London and New York are both open counts as New York, and one taken while Asia and London are both open counts as London. Each trade still counts once.

The Trading Sessions chart with Asia, London, New York and Off hours rows, local hours on each, and a P&L, win rate and trades switch
v2.87.1
ImprovedFixed

A tidy-up across the trade log, dashboard and insights, plus a fix for hiding coach tips.

Improvements

  • Tighter trade log

The stats strip above the table is gone. This month and your streak now sit in the four cards at the top, rows are shorter, and Entry and Exit share one column so more trades fit on screen.

  • Imports without a time of day

  • Cleaner charts

  • PropTracker monthly cash flow

  • Dashboard news feed

Fixes

  • Symbols widget counts every symbol

The dashboard symbols widget only looked at your top 8 symbols by profit, so losing symbols were left out of the totals, the donut and the concentration figure. It now counts all of them.

  • Hiding coach tips works again

Once you had hidden five tips on Coach FTJ, the X buttons stopped doing anything. Tips are now remembered by what they say rather than their position, and if you hide everything there is a Show it again link.

v2.87.0
NewImproved

Trade Ideas: a shared feed of setups from other traders, in beta.

New features

  • Trade Ideas (beta)

A new Community section in the sidebar where anyone signed in can post a setup before taking it: symbol, long or short, entry, stop, target and why. Other traders can read it and like it. The first time you post you pick a handle and an avatar. Your real name and email are never shown. Once you have taken the trade, link it from your Trade Log and the result shows on the idea for everyone, so a feed of setups also shows which ones worked. It is a beta, so tell us what you would change.

The Trade Ideas feed with a long EURUSD setup still open and a short NQ idea marked Worked with its profit
  • Post a setup in under a minute

Pick the market and symbol, long or short, entry, stop and target, then say why. The form shows your planned reward-to-risk as you type and stops you posting a stop on the wrong side of the entry. One chart screenshot can go with it. The community rules sit next to the feed: your own setups only, give a stop, no selling or links, no made-up results. Up to 5 posts a day. Anything that breaks the rules can be reported and comes down after three reports.

The Post a trade idea form filled in with a short NQ setup showing a planned reward of 2.4R
  • Link the trade, show the result

On your own idea, press Link a trade and pick the trade from your Trade Log. Trades on the same symbol come first. The idea then shows Worked, Lost or Break even with the P&L, and your record on the page counts it.

The Link a trade dialog listing closed EURUSD trades from the Trade Log with a winning one selected
  • Updates from the FreeTradeJournal team in the feed

  • Your handle and idea record on your Profile

Improvements

  • AI Review, Pre-Trade and Post-Trade on a phone

  • The journal editor opens where you can see it

  • Journal cards are easier to read
