Why a journal
A FundedNext Stellar challenge gives you several numbers to stay on the right side of at once: a profit target, a daily loss limit that counts floating losses, and a maximum loss measured from your initial balance. The FundedNext dashboard shows you where you stand, but it does not tell you why you are drifting toward a limit or which habits put you there.
That is what a journal is for. Import your MT5 trades into FreeTradeJournal and you get your daily P&L against the limit, your win rate by pair and session, and a written record of what you were thinking on the days that went wrong.
The free plan covers it: unlimited trade logging, CSV import, dashboard analytics, and a prop firm tracker. Below are the current Stellar rules and exactly how to get your trades in.
The rules
| Account sizes | $5K to $200K on the CFD side (Stellar Lite, Stellar 1-Step, Stellar 2-Step); futures accounts from $25K to $150K |
| Stellar 2-Step targets | 8% in Phase 1, 5% in Phase 2 |
| Stellar 1-Step target | 10% in a single phase |
| Daily loss limit | 5% on Stellar 2-Step, 3% on 1-Step, 4% on Lite — a fixed dollar amount based on initial balance, breached intraday if balance or equity crosses it, resetting at 00:00 server time |
| Maximum loss | 10% on 2-Step, 6% on 1-Step, 8% on Lite — static, measured from initial balance, and floating losses count |
| Minimum trading days | 5 days per phase on 2-Step and Lite; 2 days on 1-Step |
| Profit split | 80% baseline, rising to 90% via scale-up (accounts bought on or after 12 Jan 2026) |
| Payouts | 1-Step: every 5 business days. 2-Step and Lite: first payout after 21 days, then every 14 days |
| Platforms | MT4, MT5, cTrader, Match-Trader (the only option for US traders); TradingView, NinjaTrader, and Tradovate on the futures side |

How FreeTradeJournal helps
The dashboard shows each day's net P&L, so you can see how much of the 3-5% daily allowance a session actually used and spot the days where one more trade would have breached it.
FundedNext's maximum loss is static from the initial balance. Track your equity curve against that floor instead of doing the mental arithmetic mid-trade.
Set the phase target as a goal and watch progress per week. An 8% target on a $100K account is $8,000 — the goal tracker shows how far each trading day moves you.
PropTracker logs every challenge fee, reset, and payout across firms, so you know your real net result with FundedNext — not just the result of the current account.
Journal entries with emotion tags tie your notes to actual trades. When a challenge fails, you can read exactly what happened instead of guessing.
Getting your trades in
MT4 and MT5 are FundedNext's default platforms for paid CFD challenges. Getting your trade history out takes about a minute:
Log into MT5 with your FundedNext account credentials and server.
Open the Toolbox panel (View menu, or Ctrl+T) and switch to the History tab.
Right-click inside the history list and set the period you want, for example All History.
Right-click again and choose Report, then save as Open XML — it opens in Excel, where you can save it as CSV.
In FreeTradeJournal, open Trades and use Import CSV. The column-mapping step recognises MetaTrader exports, so you do not need to reformat anything.
If you trade through Match-Trader or cTrader instead, export your account statement from the platform's history panel and import the same way.
